Many patients in hospitals, nursing homes, and other healthcare facilities receive antibiotics to fight infections, but these drugs are often prescribed incorrectly. CDC helps clinicians prescribe the right drug for the right patient at the right dose and time.   CDC is transforming how the nation and world combat and slow antibiotic resistance at all levels through various initiatives. Infections caused by antibiotic-resistant germs are difficult, and sometimes impossible, to treat. Therefore, action is needed at all levels- health care professionals, patients and regulatory agencies.
